Job Profile Summary:

Information Technology – Data Architect 
DB2 Database Administrator – LUW (Linux/Unix/Windows)

The main function of a Database Administrator is to provide database support on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals. This position will be focused primarily on the Linux/Unix/Windows platform. Demonstrated experience in DB2 on these operating systems platforms is required at DB2 versions 9 through current (11).

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide database and system on-site support of the IBM DB2 LUW (UDB) environments
  • Support numerous IBM application environments & teams leveraging DB2 LUW databases
  • Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performance
  • Based on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance
  • Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts
  • Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)
  • Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching
  • Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching
  • Perform and manage system and database backups
  • Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failures
  • Participate fully in 24x7x365 oncall rotations for production support
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
  • 6+ years’ experience required including use of all IBM Utilities and Commands in an administration and architecture role
  • Experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution
  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Understanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes
  • Understanding of support agreements and their implied service levels
  • Proven ability to write excellent technical documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively
  • Ability to work well with people partnering and collaborating on solutions from many difference disciplines.
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to mentor others
  • Action and results oriented
  • Ability to exercise good judgment while under stress
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standard
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
