Deliverables:

* Evaluate the Infrastructure in preparation for implementing Microsoft System Management software.
* Work with technical staff to design and implement a SMS infrastructure to meeting management requirements

* Complete all tasks identified for project that are required to complete a SMS implementation.

MOM Engineer Posted: 8/05/09

MOM Administrator, 6 month project for our client in Charlotte with the possibility to extend and go perm
This chosen resource will be primarily dedicated to MOM administration but will have other Sys Admin duties as well. Experience is required with MOM beyond administration via MOM console. Required experience includes proficiency with using MOM at the management server level: writing scripts, SQL, creating management reports, montioring the entire environment. The environment consists of 2700 servers, so previous experience with large environments is required. Should have the ability to identify, analyze and devise solutions to infrastructure system problems. Ability to interact with customers regarding monitoring\alerting and communications needs. Ability to participate in implementations, upgrades and conversion projects. Ability to manage projects within scope of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS
Looking for a seasoned professional with at least 2 years of full-time experience configuring and administering Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 (MOM) across large numbers of Wintel Servers in an enterprise environment.
· Previous experience administering other monitoring tools such as HP OpenView is a plus.
· Experience with System Center Operations Manager 2007 (SCOM) is a plus.
· Ability to write operations management scripts.
· Must have working knowledge of Windows Server 2003 and SQL 2000 / 2005.
· Previous experience working in the trading industry a plus.
· Must have superior communications skills, both verbal and written, and be able to convey complex issues in a concise manner.
· Must be a proven team player with strong interpersonal skills , attention to detail, excellent organizational skills.
· Must have 4+ years of Microsoft Windows experience.
· Must understand performance counters and WMI.

Complete Description:

Advises developers in design of new applications by providing expertise on systems capabilities and constraints

Works outside immediate discipline to coordinate a group of people in troubleshooting a wide-scale problem

Serves as point-of-contact across several areas or disciplines to solve major systems outages with high impact or visibility

May function in a lead capacity within department and represent department in workflow, escalation discussions with others

Provides expert technical advice and counsel to management and to less experienced systems analysts

Assesses change implementation options, benefits and risks, and recommends most appropriate direction

Provides guidance in predicting and monitoring performance and capacity and addressing related issues

Develops non-standard, non-routine portions of the implementation plan, including steps to resolve hardware/software compatibility issues; tests software and guides users in required operational changes

Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent training and experience; Graduate degree preferred

Approximately 6-9 years experience in field

Strong knowledge of development, QA and deployment of Microsoft and application patching.
Additional Information:
Strong experience with SMS 2003 and SCCM for complex multi-country, multi-OS deployment in enterprise environment required.

Must understand ITMU and WSUS patching processes and have thorough knowledge of Microsoft patch cycle and process.
