Responsibilities and duties:
SQL Database Administrator
Build and maintain SQL databases
Monitor SQL database servers and respond to alerts.
Share in the 24x7 On-Call rotation (approximately 1 week per month)
Upgrade SQL servers
Address Incidents and Requests assigned to this work group queue.
Assist in Root Cause Analysis of Major Incidents.
Provide additional related support as needed.
Will be SME for SQL database support - troubleshooting issues, backups, monthly patching, change control with approved governance procedures

- Supporting the daily operations of databases
- Work collaboratively with analysts and technical developers to support the database and applications
- Installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, cloning, health checks, performance monitoring, system tuning, and optimization
- Implementing and executing robust backup and recovery solutions
- Implementing and enforcing standards, policies, and best practices
- Root-cause analysis and resolution of complex problems in support of production environments, including 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis
- Managing Service Request (SR) support with Oracle
- Set-up of DMZ severs and support external facing sites
- Manage and support Single Sign On (SSO) servers/environment
- Support any system down times mandated by the client due to other dependent systems/applications (Network downtime, Server upgrades, etc.)
Experience/Education Required:
BS/BA degree is Information Technology, Computer Science, or related major,
- 10+ years of database administration experience
- Experience in supporting database utilities
- Experience with installation, configuration, ongoing maintenance and upgrades of databases
- Experience with patch and maintenance in a multi-node installation
- Expertise in various operating systems
- Experience with logical and physical data modeling
- Strong documentation skills
- SQL DB experience
- Windows Server Administration experience
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
